Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Huntington’s disease, and many others represent a growing global health burden. Despite decades of research, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain incompletely understood, and effective disease-modifying treatments are still limited. Emerging evidence highlights that dysregulation of cell signaling pathways plays a central role in the onset and progression of these diseases, impacting neuronal survival, synaptic plasticity, mitochondrial function, neuroinflammation, post-translational modifications and protein homeostasis.
This Special Issue, titled “Cell Signaling in Neurodegeneration Disease”, aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the dynamic signaling networks involved in neurodegeneration. We invite original research articles, reviews, and perspectives that focus on the identification and functional analysis of signaling pathways implicated in neurodegenerative conditions. Of particular interest are studies investigating biomarkers, pathway-specific mechanisms, glial-neuronal interactions, intercellular communication, and novel therapeutic strategies.
We welcome interdisciplinary contributions utilizing a variety of experimental models and methodologies, including human-derived samples, neuroimaging, iPSCs, transcriptomics, proteomics, animal models, computational modeling, and drug screening platforms. By integrating insights across molecular, cellular, and system-level neuroscience, this Special Issue seeks to advance both our basic understanding and translational applications.
