| 1998 | The inaugural print issue is released. Kardiovaskuläre Medizin becomes the official journal of the Swiss Society of Angiology, the Swiss Society of Hypertension, the Swiss Society of Cardiology, and the Swiss Pediatric Cardiology Society and is published monthly. It accepts articles in German, French, and English. |
| 2004 | EMH Swiss Medical Publishers continues the publication of the journal under an open-access model (CC-BY-NC-ND). |
| 2010 | The journal publishes articles exclusively in English. |
| 2019 | The journal adapts a bimonthly schedule. |
| 2021 | Cardiovascular Medicine is indexed in Scopus. |
| 2022 | Cardiovascular Medicine becomes the official journal of the Swiss Society of Cardiac Surgery. |
| 2024 | The journal discontinues publication because its previous publisher, EMH Swiss Medical Publishers, ceases operations. |
| 2025 | MDPI acquires Cardiovascular Medicine and continues its publication quarterly from Volume 28, Issue 1 (2025). |
