Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The standard treatment of glioblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumor, is not entirely effective; therefore, this Special Issue aims to address fundamental neoplastic mechanisms and the pathogenesis of the disease initiated by treatment. We welcome the submission of original manuscripts to this Special Issue, aiming to develop more effective therapeutic approaches. Of particular interest are in vivo studies, particularly preclinical experiments, clinical studies, and case reports addressing novel treatments and imaging strategies.

Specifically, we aim to cover two areas of glioblastomas: malignant mechanisms in glioblastoma, particularly aggressive invasive behavior, and the high rate of tumor cell proliferation. We invite the submission of studies that address (1) the inhibition of metalloproteinases by agents able to cross the blood–brain barrier, (2) the effective killing of tumor cells by agents or other strategies delivered to the brain, and (3) the imaging of intact and treated glioblastoma.

We also invite studies that address the severity of the white matter inflammation initiated by trauma that is associated with surgical resection of the tumor and propagated by a multitude of postsurgical irradiations. Furthermore, studies addressing therapeutic strategies used to limit the severity of vasogenic edema associated with inflammation are also of interest for this Special Issue.
