This section encompasses fundamental and applied research on the auditory system, focusing on normal and impaired hearing across the lifespan. Topics include auditory signal processing, psychoacoustics, hearing loss etiology, cochlear and middle ear implants, amplification devices, and auditory rehabilitation. Particular attention is given to studies that explore the understanding of speech under degraded conditions and the neural encoding of sound in hearing-impaired listeners.
