Advances in Pesticide Residue and Heavy Metals Detection Technologies
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The widespread use of pesticides and the increasing occurrence of heavy metals in food and environmental matrices continue to raise significant concerns regarding human health, environmental sustainability, and regulatory compliance. Reliable analytical methods are therefore essential for effective monitoring and risk assessment. Recent years have witnessed remarkable progress in detection technologies, driven by advances in analytical instrumentation, novel functional materials, miniaturized devices, and data processing tools.
The scope of the Special Issue is to attract original research and review papers focusing on innovative analytical approaches for the detection, identification, and quantification and monitoring of pesticide residues and heavy metals in food, water, soil, plants, consumer products and biological samples. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, chromatographic and spectrometric techniques, electrochemical and optical sensors, biosensors, portable and onsite detection systems, sample preparation strategies, chemometric and artificial intelligence-assisted data analysis, method validation, and applications supporting food safety and environmental monitoring.
By highlighting recent methodological developments and real-world applications, this Special Issue aims to provide an up-to-date overview of current analytical capabilities and emerging trends that support more efficient contaminant monitoring, improved food safety, environmental quality, and public health.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. AppliedChem is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1200 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
