Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

The challenge of producing more food to meet the growing global population is widely recognized; however, while crop output is currently generally high, increasing grain production through new varieties is becoming increasingly difficult. Additionally, the energy and materials required for grain production are rising. Each increase in production necessitates more fertilizers, pesticides, water, and fuel, which raises planting costs, harms the environment, and undermines the sustainability of agriculture. Precision agriculture, a promising scientific technology, offers a solution to these issues. It optimizes crop growth conditions through precise management, achieving the highest yield at the lowest cost. Implementing precision agriculture requires support from various scientific fields, including global positioning systems, geographic information systems, remote sensing, sensors, and expert systems. We are pleased to invite you to share the latest research advancements in precision agriculture to collectively promote scientific progress in this field and contribute to the sustainable development of agriculture and human survival on Earth.

This Special Issue aims to report on research and applications in precision agriculture utilizing sensors, the Internet of Things (IoT), and related technologies. Manuscripts should align with the Special Issue's theme and the journal's scope. Original research articles and reviews are welcome, and research areas may include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Intelligent agricultural equipment;
  • Agricultural robots;
  • Agricultural sensors;
  • Monitoring of crop health status;
  • Automatic navigation of agricultural vehicles;
  • Remote sensing in agriculture;
  • Electronics and automation in agriculture;
  • Application of artificial intelligence in agriculture;
  • Machine vision and signal processing in agriculture;
  • Spectral technology in agriculture;
  • IoT and data analysis in agriculture.

We look forward to receiving your contributions.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. AgriEngineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
