Intelligent IoT for Supply Chain Management
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
The rapid advancement of the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and data-driven technologies is fundamentally transforming modern supply chain systems. The emergence of Intelligent IoT (AIoT) enables the seamless integration of connected devices, real-time data analytics, and autonomous decision-making, thereby enhancing visibility, efficiency, and resilience across supply chain operations. As global supply networks become increasingly complex and dynamic, there is a growing need for intelligent, adaptive, and scalable solutions to address challenges related to demand uncertainty, logistics optimization, risk management, and sustainability.
The objective of this Special Issue is to provide a high-quality platform for researchers, academics, and industry practitioners to present innovative research findings, share practical insights, and discuss emerging trends in Intelligent IoT-driven supply chain transformation. By leveraging smart sensing technologies, edge–cloud architectures, and AI-based optimization techniques, Intelligent IoT has the potential to significantly enhance supply chain resilience, operational efficiency, transparency, and sustainability. Particular emphasis will be placed on the integration of AI-driven intelligence with IoT-enabled systems to support predictive analytics, real-time monitoring, and autonomous decision-making in complex logistics and supply networks.
We invite submissions of original research articles, review papers, and case studies that align with the journal’s standards and have not been previously published or submitted elsewhere. Contributions should address foundational challenges or real-world applications, offering novel methodologies, frameworks, or empirical insights into Intelligent IoT-enabled supply chain systems.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Intelligent IoT architectures for supply chain systems (edge, fog, and cloud integration);
- AI-driven demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and logistics planning;
- Real-time tracking, monitoring, and asset management using IoT technologies;
- Digital twins and simulation models for supply chain optimization;
- Predictive maintenance and condition monitoring in logistics and warehousing;
- Blockchain integration for secure, transparent, and decentralized supply chains;
- Security, privacy, and trust management in IoT-enabled supply chains;
- Data analytics and big data management for supply chain intelligence;
- Autonomous logistics systems and smart transportation networks;
- Energy-efficient and sustainable IoT solutions for supply chain operations;
- Interoperability and standardization in heterogeneous IoT ecosystems;
- Applications of Intelligent IoT in Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing supply chains.
- Federated learning and decentralized intelligence in supply chain IoT;
- Applications of 5G/6G and advanced communication technologies in logistics;
- Resilience and risk management in IoT-enabled supply chains.
This Special Issue will provide valuable insights into how Intelligent IoT technologies can reshape supply chain ecosystems, improve operational efficiency, and support the transition toward smart and sustainable logistics. We look forward to your contributions to advancing this rapidly evolving field.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. IoT is an international peer-reviewed open access quarterly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
