Biosynthesis and Combinatorial Approaches in Antimicrobial Discovery

Section Information

Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are major players in providing novel antimicrobial molecules. The evolvement of antimicrobial discovery highly depends on understanding the molecular paths regulating the production of the target molecule. Such degree of understanding allows for advancing bio-based routes (i.e., metabolic engineering and synthetic biology strategies) and chemical-based approaches for large-scale production of antimicrobials, as well as fine-tuning of molecular properties.

This Section welcomes contributions that focus both on antimicrobial biosynthesis from the most diverse producing cells and strategies and on combinatorial approaches to develop novel and effective antimicrobial molecules.
