The 2026 International Online Conference on Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease (CTMID 2026) was held on 1–2 July, and these proceedings comprise all the accepted abstracts that were approved by the authors for publication. The conference was organized by MDPI, publishers of the Journal of Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the journal, which is the outcome of a mutually beneficial arrangement between the Australasian College of Tropical Medicine and MDPI. The College had realized that the future of its official publication would be enhanced by online open access publication, with its advantages of worldwide authorship opportunities, rapid peer review and short publication times, and unrestricted readership. The publication metrics of the journal reflect its success, as shown by its current ranking in Q1 of the Journal Citation Reports category of Tropical Medicine, and its impact factor of 3.1 (2025). CTMID 2026 provided an accessible platform to exchange cutting-edge knowledge about some of the world’s most pressing health issues. With sessions dedicated to Vector-Borne Diseases, One Health and Zoonotic Diseases, Neglected Tropical Diseases, and Antimicrobial Resistance, the conference reflected the urgent need for interdisciplinary approaches and global cooperation in combating infectious threats. In total, 230 abstract submissions were received, of which 83 were accepted. Over 60% of the contributing authors were from Africa and Asia. Each session received more than 50 submissions, with Session 3 (Neglected Tropical Diseases) attracting the highest level of interest, with 71 submissions. While this was the journal’s first International Online Conference on Tropical Medicine and Infectious Disease, I am confident that future editions will attract even greater interest, given the very wide range of potential scientific topics that the journal covers.
