Cover Story: Rectal cancer is a major cause of mortality in the U.S., with treatment personalized based on tumor and patient characteristics. Standard care protocols for locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) include neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) followed by total mesorectal excision. MRI is essential for both initial staging and post-treatment evaluation, particularly in assessing treatment response. We developed an MRI-based radiomic model to distinguish between good and poor responders to nCRT, aiming to support early prediction and improve personalized treatment strategies. View this paper
