2022 December - 81 articles

Cover Story: Intensively used in various products of high interest, synthetic dyes are among the most frequently encountered chemical compounds. Part of them end up in water, either through the products in which they are found or as part of the discharged effluents thus becoming a source of contamination. In the worldwide context of the continuing efforts towards developing new methods for water treatment, innovative low-cost hydrogel composites can be prepared by entrapping industrial wastes from the fruit processing sector into natural polymeric matrices. The resultant materials are listed as possessing adsorbent properties such as important surface area, high pore sizes, and structures permitting high affinity with colored emergent pollutants from the aqueous environment.
