Cover Story: Tooth surface loss is an increasingly common and destructive pathology that lacks rigorous criteria to assess the disease severity and treatment needs, even though numerous attempts have been made to develop wear indices and classification systems. Most of the existing tooth wear indices require many steps to classify the lesions and do not identify the aesthetic implications of the wear. This study aimed to develop a tooth wear classification system that combined the extent, severity, and aesthetic impact of tooth wear and correlated them with the most appropriate clinical management strategy.
