Cover Story: We explore the psychological landscape of fibromyalgia (FM)—marked by widespread pain, fatigue, cognitive challenges, and emotional distress, often linked to personality traits and psychopathology. Seventy women with FM completed the Personality Assessment Inventory and Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire and were classified into mild or severe functional, physical–somatic, and emotional groups via hierarchical clustering. Severe functional cases showed greater affective dysregulation and somatic complaints; severe physical–somatic cases had more mood instability, somatization, and suicidal ideation; and severe emotional cases showed higher major and persistent depression. Greater cumulative severity intensified depressive and somatic disorders, underscoring FM’s biopsychosocial nature and the need for personalized, multidisciplinary care. View this paper
