Cover Story: Pharmacists can play a key role in suicide prevention due to their accessibility; however, little is known about their experience of and attitude toward suicide. A scoping review revealed the following four themes: (1) pharmacists’ attitudes towards suicide and suicide assessment, (2) pharmacists’ experiences in suicide prevention, (3) pharmacists’ preparedness, and (4) trainings in suicide prevention. Pharmacists were generally unprepared for their role in suicide prevention, mainly due to their lack of training. Indeed, training had a positive impact on attitudes and experiences. Pharmacists can participate in suicide prevention through gate-keeping activities and medication reviews. Providing targeted training programmes is key to ensure that pharmacists are well-equipped in terms of knowledge and have an awareness about personal stigmas related to suicide. View this paper
