Cover Story: Artificial intelligence is developing at an astounding pace, with recent emerging technology such as ChatGPT opening a world of new possibilities. In healthcare, coronary artery disease remains the biggest killer worldwide and hence represents a critical field where AI can offer key solutions. Through its ability to process vast amounts of data and learn from algorithms, AI has the huge potential to improve risk prediction using cardiac imaging, reduce human error, and shorten patient waiting times. In this paper, we discuss the applications, implications, opportunities, and challenges that are likely to arise as a result of using AI in cardiology, focusing mainly on cardiac imaging.
