Cover Story: Helicobacter pylori infection can lead to the development of gastric and duodenal ulcers and gastric cancer. The H. pylori genome encodes several periplasmic binding proteins (PBPs), most with unknown function. We describe crystallisation and preliminary X-ray diffraction analysis of the PBP YckK from H. pylori SS1, an important step towards elucidation of its ligand specificity and three-dimensional structure. The cover shows the electron density map of the molecular replacement solution. View the paper here.
