Cover Story: Chipless RFID sensors are preferred for many sensing and monitoring applications due to their passive nature and wireless interrogation capability. They do not require a battery or power source, ensuring their low-cost fabrication and long-term operation without maintenance and enabling remote sensing in harsh or hazardous environments. A wireless chipless resonator-based sensor for measuring time-varying electric fields is introduced in this study, utilizing contactless air-filled substrate-integrated waveguide (CLAF-SIW) technology. The developed interrogation system facilitates the measurement of fast varying measurands. This sensor can measure electric fields from high-voltage apparatuses with a frequency of up to 25 kHz.
