Proteins in Health and Diseases: New Knowledge and Practical Applications
Topic Information
Dear Colleagues,
Proteins are of great importance in the diagnosis and understanding of most diseases and pathological disturbances that occur, thus having an impact on biomarkers. This Topic will focus on studies which offer new knowledge about proteins and their role and applications in health and disease. It will welcome contributions about the following topics:
- applicative studies about the use of proteins as biomarkers;
- the identification of new proteins that can be of interest in physiological and pathological problems;
- the development of new assays or validation studies for detection of proteins of clinical interest;
- advances in the studies of proteins in non-invasive samples such as saliva or feces;
- omics studies involving proteins;
- the establishment of reference ranges or physiological values of proteins and analytes of clinical interest;
- acute phase proteins and proteins of inflammation and immune system, such as cytokines and interleukins.
