Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
As urban populations surge, especially across the Asia–Pacific and other rapidly developing regions, the integration of green infrastructure into cities has become essential for advancing the goals of sustainability and enhancing environmental quality. This Special Issue therefore invites interdisciplinary research that explores the role of urban forestry and green spaces in supporting environmental resilience, ecological balance, habitat connectivity, and cultural integration with nature in urban environments.
Aligned with Sustainability’s commitment to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, we welcome submissions that speak to key SDGs and promote holistic and cross-disciplinary insights into sustainable development. We seek contributions that engage with the technical, ecological, social, economic, and cultural dimensions of urban greening, and those that address themes such as biodiversity conservation, equitable access to green spaces, climate adaptation, urban microclimates, participatory design, and nature-based solutions in diverse urban settings.
We particularly welcome case studies and comparative analyses from megacities and rapidly urbanizing areas, where urban greening presents unique opportunities and constraints. Contributions from natural and applied sciences, engineering, economics, ecological science, urban planning, and the humanities are encouraged.
By gathering innovative research and grounded practice, this Special Issue aims to generate actionable knowledge that informs urban planning, public policy, and community practice. As Guest Editor, I look forward to curating a diverse and impactful collection of articles that help reimagine greener, more ecologically balanced, resilient, and nature-integrated urban futures.
