Water Desalination and Water Treatment Technologies for Sustainability

Water security is a critical global resource for future socio-economic development, yet it faces immense challenges from scarcity, pollution, and climate change. Water desalination and advanced water treatment technologies present pivotal strategies for both augmenting water resources and enhancing water-use efficiency, representing a vital trajectory towards sustainable water management. This Special Issue, "Water Desalination and Water Treatment Technologies for Sustainability," aims to gather innovative research and reviews that address the multifaceted concept of sustainability in this field. We seek contributions that advance the field of sustainable water technologies, from novel methods employing membranes and advanced materials to innovative treatment processes and cutting-edge sustainability assessment tools. This issue will also explore their real-world impact through practical applications, case studies, simulations, and the critical analysis of supporting policies and laws. The collective goal is to advance our knowledge and practice to ensure a resilient and sustainable water future.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Sustainability is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
