Upcoming MDPI Conferences (1)

Online
This year, on 13th–15th September, MDPI has partnered with the University of Basel to bring you the 9th World Sustainability Forum (WSF 2021).
Calling for a “New Normal”
The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged many of the world’s outdated economic, social, and environmental systems, prompting widespread calls for a global shift towards a more sustainable “new normal”.
Now, more than a year on since the world entered various forms of lockdown or pandemic management, WSF 2021 is an opportunity to help re-evaluate the relationships between society, politics, and the commercial world. By providing major sessions on topics of Business and Finance, Climate, Health and Medicine, Water and Education, WSF 2021 aims to establish platforms and networks among stakeholders and bring structure to the vision of a more sustainable world after the pandemic.
World Sustainability Awards – We Welcome your Nominations
At WSF 2021, we are excited to host this year’s World Sustainability Award and the Emerging Sustainability Leader Award, funded by the MDPI Sustainability Foundation and the Sustainability journal, respectively, and we welcome your nominations!
The recipients of the World Sustainability Award and Emerging Sustainability Leader Award are chosen from nominees by a Selection Committee consisting of a maximum of five members, including permanent members Dr. Shu-Kun Lin, founder and President of MDPI and founder and chairman of the MDPI Sustainability Foundation, and Prof. Dr. Ed Constable, former Vice President for Research of the University of Basel.
Nominees for the World Sustainability Award may be individual researchers or groups of researchers, whereas the nominees for the Emerging Sustainability Leader Award are individual researchers aged 40 or under at the time of the submission deadline. The awardees must have made, and continue to make, a unique and outstanding academic or societal contribution to sustainability in general or to a sustainability-relevant issue.
Awardees of both the World Sustainability Award and Emerging Sustainability Leader Award will receive a monetary prize of USD 100,000 and USD 20,000, respectively.
Abstract Submissions are Now Open!
Until the 13th July 2021, we are seeking proposals for session streams, sessions, and presentations of papers and posters for WSF 2021. All submissions should aim to foster research, networking, and debates in science and technology, the life sciences, and the social sciences, as well as fruitful exchanges between academia and the public, civic, or private sectors – We are looking forward to your submissions.

Upcoming Partner Conferences (7)

Evora, Portugal
The 4th edition of the International Symposium on Synthesis and Catalysis (IsySyCat21) will take place in Evora Portugal from 30th Aug to 3rd Sept. 2021. The conference will focus on key topics in contemporary organic, organometallic, polymer synthesis and catalysis, which are of relevance to both academic and industrial chemists alike. In general, ISySyCat focuses strongly on chemical synthesis with catalysis as a key enabler. Like always, we anticipate a good mix of participants from academia and industry. This is reflected in the list of plenary speakers (15) that hail from both academia and industry from all over the world. Besides there will be 25 slots for 20 min talks and 38 slots for 10 min talks, along with an excellent social program.

Lisbon, Portugual
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Commission, it is our pleasure to invite you to attend the XXII International Symposium on Homogeneous Catalysis (XXII ISHC) to be held on 5-10 September 2021 in Lisbon, at Faculty of Sciences of the Universidade de Lisboa. It is a great honor for us to host this well established key conference on Homogeneous Catalysis for the first time in Portugal, and we should acknowledge the International Advisory Board members of ISHC for giving us this opportunity. We will do our best in order to achieve in Lisbon another memorable scientific event as the successful previous editions held biennially in Corpus Christi (1978), Dusseldorf, Milan, Leningrad, Kobe, Vancouver, Lyon, Amsterdam, Jerusalem, Princeton, St. Andrews, Stockholm, Tarragona, Munich, Sun City, Florence, Poznan, Toulouse, Ottawa, Kyoto and Amsterdam (2018), in chronological order.
All aspects of Homogeneous Catalysis, including metal complex catalysis, organo-, bio-, electro-, photo- and nanocatalysis, cooperative catalysis, heterogenized homogeneous catalysis, multiphase homogeneous catalysis, catalysis in unconventional media, noncovalent interactions in catalysis, mechanistic investigations, computational approaches, etc. will be highlighted in both already established and emerging fields.
The Conference venue is in a privileged position concerning travel requirements. Lisbon, voted as the "Best Destination City of Europe" (World Travel Awards, 2018), is easily reachable from any place of the world, and the airport and the main train stations are located inside the town itself (this is a unique case within the European capitals). The Conference venue is also in the town and with close access to public transportation, including metro, e.g., from/to the airport.
Attention will also be paid to the social programme, providing opportunities for mixing, visits to cultural places and excursions to sites of unique natural beauty, and for tasting the typical Portuguese cuisine and … the inspiration of our wines from various demarcated regions!
We'll be most pleased to welcome you herein and we hope you will enjoy a pleasant time along all the Conference, from both scientific and social points of view.
Looking forward to meeting you in Lisbon,
The Conference Chairpersons
Armando J.L. Pombeiro
Chair (IST, Universidade de Lisboa)
M. Fátima C. Guedes da Silva
