About Sustainable Chemistry

Aims

Sustainable Chemistry (ISSN 2673-4079) is an international and cross-disciplinary scholarly, open access journal, which provides an advanced forum for studies that present significant advances in the development of alternative green and sustainable technologies in chemical engineering. We welcome work focus on the design of products and processes that minimize or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances to humans, animals, plants, and the environment.

Scope

Based on the the definition and twelve principles of green chemistry proposed by Anastas and Warner (Green Chemistry: Theory and Practice, P T Anastas and J C Warner, Oxford University Press, Oxford, 1998), the scope of Sustainable Chemistry includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Pollution prevention/reduction
  • Reduce toxic/derivatives
  • Design for chemical products and processes
  • Green solvents
  • Green catalysis
  • Sustainable polymerizations
  • (bio)polymers/materials
  • Biorefineries and biofuels
  • Green absorbents
  • Bio-renewable resources
  • Degradation
  • Biomass or wastes as resources
  • Alternative energy
  • Renewable energy and storage
  • Energy efficiency
  • Carbon dioxide capture, storage
  • Green processes, technologies, and manufacturing
  • Cleaner synthetic methods
  • Research and process analytical techniques
  • Separation and purification technologies
  • Real-time analysis/monitoring/controlling
  • Safety/risk
  • Life-cycle assessment
  • Cultural heritage chemistry
  • Green chemistry education
  • Biomimetic and biosensor applications
  • Sustainable chemistry and engineering
  • Environmental conservation and green chemistry

MDPI Publication Ethics Statement

Sustainable Chemistry is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). MDPI takes the responsibility to enforce a rigorous peer-review together with strict ethical policies and standards to ensure to add high quality scientific works to the field of scholarly publication. Unfortunately, cases of plagiarism, data falsification, inappropriate authorship credit, and the like, do arise. MDPI takes such publishing ethics issues very seriously and our editors are trained to proceed in such cases with a zero tolerance policy. To verify the originality of content submitted to our journals, we use iThenticate to check submissions against previous publications. MDPI works with Publons to provide reviewers with credit for their work.
