Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
This Special Issue on aging and well-being among people who identify as LGBTQIA2S+ seeks to include current research from both new and established scholars from across social science disciplines and around the globe. Of particular interest is scholarship that is intersectional and based on queer, feminist, or other critical theoretical frameworks. This volume seeks to engage with recent research that has expanded our understandings of the multiplicities and nuanced possibilities inherent to sexual and gender identities. Also relevant is scholarship that incorporates challenges to social constructions constraining ideas of successful aging and well-being. Topics related to aging, developmental change, and wellness could include physical and mental health, psychosocial factors, healthcare, finances, employment, spirituality, physical or emotional security, resilience, social integration, social media and apps, and more.
For consideration, please submit abstracts by 1 September 2025. Please submit your abstract to the Special Issue Guest Editor Prof. Dr. Lara Descartes (ldescart@uwo.ca). For those accepted for consideration, paper submission will be due 30 December 2025 for preliminary review.
