Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

I would like to invite researchers and clinicians to propose original articles or literature reviews, including psychometric validations, on topics related to the association between mental disorders and sexuality. Such relationships are often manifested in a variety of forms, including but not limited to sexual functioning and sexual behavior. In addition, challenges related to minority sexual identity may be associated with psychological suffering, for example, in cases of stigma and discrimination.

The aim of this Special Issue is to explore and investigate these relationships, highlighting the clinical implications for psychiatry, clinical psychology, sexual medicine, and psycho-sexology. Focus may include medical, pharmacological, and/or social factors that intersect with psychological and mental disorders as they impact sexual health.

Papers that identify strategies to improve assessment, psychodiagnosis, and psychometric evaluation are encouraged, as are topics that impact treatment and care, recognizing not only that treatment and care of sexual problems may improve mental health, but also that treatment of psychological/mental health concerns may improve sexual well-being. From a broader perspective, both mental and sexual health contribute to the overall personal wellness and quality of life of individuals, with clinicians and researchers playing a fundamental role in this public health issue.
