Section Information

The section of Developmental Psychiatry and Early-Life Mental Health focuses on the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders that occur in children and adolescents. This section publishes original research that advances the understanding and clinical management of a wide spectrum of diagnoses, including psychiatric disorders, developmental disabilities, addictive behaviors, conduct disorders, and general mental health challenges in this young population.

This section publishes original research across the entire spectrum of child and adolescent psychiatry. It is dedicated to research on early diagnosis, prevention, prognosis, and the development of effective interventions and treatments of child and adolescent psychiatry. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Etiology of child and adolescent mental disorders;
  • Autism;
  • ADHD;
  • Neurodevelopmental disorders;
  • Clinical manifestations and phenomenology of mental disorders in children and adolescents;
  • Measurement, assessment, and diagnostic tools;
  • Novel therapeutic approaches and treatment outcomes;
  • Family, school, community, and social-based interventions.
