Section Information

Addiction Psychiatry aims to cover all aspects of addiction and related disorders, including both pharmacological and behavioral addictions. Its scope encompasses clinical research, genetic and neurobiological studies, as well as psychological, neurobiological, and pharmacological investigations involving animal experimentation. Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Substance addictions, substance abuse treatment, and prevention;
  • Drug addiction, addiction medicine, addictive drugs, and prevention of drug addictions;
  • Food addiction and eating disorders;
  • Alcohol and tobacco use, nicotine, and dependence;
  • Gambling disorder;
  • Video game addiction, internet addiction, and problematic internet use;
  • Addictive disorders;
  • Sexual addictions;
  • Behavioral addictions and non-substance-related disorders;
  • The relationship between policy and psychoactive drug use.
