MPs 2023 Travel Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that MPs will be providing a 2023 Travel Award for junior scientists. The applications will be assessed by an evaluation committee consisting of senior scholars from the MPs Editorial Board.
This award provides financial support to the winners to attend an international conference (physical or virtual) in the field of Life Sciences, Chemistry, and Biomedical Sciences, and other relevant scientific fields to be held in 2023, in order to hold a presentation, present a poster, or both.
Candidate Requirements:
– Postdoctoral fellows or PhD students;
– Plans to attend an international conference (physical or virtual) in 2023 (oral presentation or poster).
Required Application Documents:
– Information of the conference the applicant is planning to attend and the abstract that will be submitted;
– Curriculum Vitae and list of publications;
– Letter describing the focus of the research (max. 800 words);
– Letter of recommendation from the supervisor, research director, or department head, which also confirms the applicant’s status as a postdoctoral fellow/PhD student.
Prizes:
There will be one winner this year who will be awarded CHF 800 and a certificate.
Please submit your applications for the MPs 2023 Travel Award online by 31 January 2023. Prizes will be awarded at the end of March 2023 and announced on the MPs website.

MPs 2021 Best Paper Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the launch of the MPs 2021 Best Paper Award, which will be granted to one paper published in MPs from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021. The winning paper will be selected after thorough evaluation by the MPs Award Committee, which will be led by Prof. Dr. Fernando Albericio, and the winner will be announced at the end of February 2023.
Eligibility for the awards:
– Papers published in MPs from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021;
– Open to all career levels;
– Both regular and Special Issue submissions will be considered.
Selection Criteria:
The paper will be selected by the journal Award Committee, according to the following criteria (data source: Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics)):
– Scientific merit and broad impact;
– Relevance to the journal’s field;
– Originality of the research objectives and/or the ideas presented;
– Creativity of the study design or uniqueness of the approaches and concepts;
– Clarity of presentation;
– Citation and download rates until 31 December 2022.
Prizes:
There will be one winner this year, who will receive the following:
– CHF 500 (Swiss francs);
– An opportunity to publish a paper, free of charge, in MPs in 2023, following the normal peer-review procedure;
– A certificate.
The winner will be announced on the journal website at the end of February 2023.

MPs 2022 Travel Award
Dear Colleagues,
As Editor-in-Chief of MPs, I am pleased to announce the winner of the MPs 2022 Travel Award.
The award has been granted to Mr. Pere Catala, a PhD candidate whose research focuses on the development of cell-based regenerative therapy protocols for the human corneal endothelium, under supervision of Dr. Mor Dickman, Dr. Vanessa LaPointe and Prof. Dr. Rudy Nuijts.
With so many high-quality applications, the evaluation process and final decision were challenging. I would like to thank all the applicants for submitting such a diverse and fascinating range of research topics. MPs 2020–2021 Travel Award
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the winner of the MPs 2020–2021 Travel Award. The Evaluation Committee was very impressed with the high quality of work presented for consideration. After careful evaluation, we can now announce that the award has been granted to Ms. Tanja Eisemann, post-doctoral fellow in the SBP Medical Discovery Institute. Her impressive research work focuses on the tumor microenvironment and its impact on the development and dissemination of brain tumors.
Ms. Tanja Eisemann will receive 800 Swiss Francs, which she can put forth to attend academic conferences in 2021.

MPs 2019 Travel Award
Dear Colleagues,
As Editor-in-Chief of Methods and Protocols, I am pleased to announce the winner of the 2019 MPs Travel Award. The award was granted to Dr. Guerrino Macori, postdoctoral fellow of the Teagasc Food Research Centre. He will receive 800 Swiss Francs for travel expenses to attend the Microbiology Society Annual Conference 2019 in ICC Belfast, UK.
Dr. Guerrino Macori’s current research is focused on analysis of genomic data for the assembly of new bacterial genomes and phylogenetic studies for the tracing of food-borne outbreaks. He has an active interest in computational analysis and in genomic data science. He is currently taking algorithms development and machine learning courses in order to widen his knowledge in these fields and possibly use them in the development of novel approaches and applications in molecular microbiology.
MPs is proud to support this young researcher working in the field of microbial ecology and wish him further success in his career. We are grateful to all who submitted applications; thank you for letting us get to know you and your work. We hope you will continue supporting MPs in the future.
