Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Powder metallurgy has become a key manufacturing route for the development of advanced metallic materials with tailored microstructures and high performance. Compared with conventional casting and forming methods, powder metallurgy offers unique advantages such as precise control of composition, near-net-shape fabrication, reduced material waste, and the possibility of producing complex components. In recent years, significant progress has been achieved in powder production technologies, advanced consolidation processes, and the design of novel metal matrix composites and functional materials. This Special Issue aims to highlight recent advances in the processing, characterization, and applications of metallic materials produced via powder metallurgy routes. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, innovative powder synthesis methods, mechanical alloying, advanced sintering techniques (e.g., hot pressing, spark plasma sintering, hot isostatic pressing, and field-assisted sintering), and additive manufacturing processes based on metal powders. Particular attention will be given to studies addressing microstructure–property relationships, performance optimization, and the development of high-performance materials for demanding applications in energy, transportation, aerospace, biomedical devices, and emerging technologies. Original research articles, reviews, and short communications are welcome. This Special Issue aims to provide a platform for disseminating cutting-edge research and fostering collaboration among researchers working in powder metallurgy and advanced metallic materials.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-anonymized peer-review process. Metals is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
