30th Anniversary

The year 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Mathematical and Computational Applications (MCA), a peer-reviewed open access journal on applications of mathematical and/or computational techniques. With an Impact Factor of 2.1, the journal is covered in Scopus, ESCI (Web of Science), and other databases. It has published more than 1500 papers from more than 2378 authors across 94 different countries/regions. From 2016 to the present, more than 2000 scholars have reviewed the journal at least once. We equally value the contributions made by our editors, authors, and reviewers.

In honor of the journal’s 30th anniversary, we are reflecting on our past accomplishments and embarking on an exciting new chapter. We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone for our journal and explore the content we have prepared for you below.

Journal History


MCA was launched as the official journal of the Association for Scientific Research.

MCA was published by MDPI from Volume 21, Issue 1 (2016).

MCA established the following sections:

  • Engineering;
  • Natural Sciences;
  • Social Sciences.

MCA was indexed in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI)—Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), starting with Volume 22 (Issue 1).

MCA published its 1,000th paper.



MCA received its first Impact Factor (1.9).

MCA was indexed in Scopus–Elsevier.

The South African Association for Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (SAAM) became affiliated to MCA.



The year 2026 marks the 30th Anniversary of MCA.
