Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Cultural heritage, which serves as an economic and cultural asset, promotes sustainable development in cities. However, the current planning tools are not flexible enough to allow sustainable transformation, as the funding arrangements mainly rely on public funds. At the same time, they lack the related governance tools, e.g., assessment methods, which directly affect the financial sustainability. In response to the funding challenges cultural heritage faces, adjustment in the structures of governance and financial arrangements needs to be performed. In particular, new trends in finance based on Fintech and new trends in cultural heritage based on the principle of circular economy can further provide opportunities and challenges for the funding management of cultural heritage. The purpose of this SI focuses on governance and financial models for cultural heritage. Technical papers, and state-of-the-art reviews will all be considered and should relate to the governance and financial aspects of cultural heritage. In this SI, original high-quality papers, both theoretical and empirical, considering related research areas are welcome. Interdisciplinary studies are also highly encouraged. Research areas may include (but are not limited to) the following:
(1) Funding modes
(2) Influencing factors of the funding mode
(3) New sources of funding
(4) Evaluation methods for financial sustainability
(5) Fintech in cultural heritage
(6) Circular economy for cultural heritage
(7) Adaptive reuse
