Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

In the last few years, the introduction of novel applications to the market has reshaped the research conducted around the world in the field of data science and, specifically, the required hardware for monitoring, storing, and processing data. Wearable or small-sized devices are developed rapidly, Internet of Things (IoT) is changing the way factories are operating, homes are becoming smart, and even cities are characterized as intelligent. The new era of data science brings forward the need for new paradigms and design flows for special purpose applications, either in the field of computer architecture or in the field of embedded systems.

As a consequence, new architectures have been proposed for GPUs to process big datasets, biologically-inspired architectures are investigated to address artificial intelligence (AI) problems, security issues are considered during processor design, the automotive industry requires safety combined with autonomous driving, etc.

This Special Issue will collect the most recent research results, practical implementations, experiences, and innovation in computer architecture and embedded systems, with an emphasis on special-purpose applications and emerging technologies. We would like to gather researchers from different disciplines and methodological backgrounds to discuss new ideas, research questions, recent results, and future challenges in this emerging area of research and public interest.

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Future Internet is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 1600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
