The 6th International Symposium on the Biology and Ecology of Galling Arthropods and Related Endophytes

The 6th International symposium on the biology and ecology of galling arthropods and related endophytes will be held in the heart of Lamington Plateau in southern Queensland, a World Heritage Area known for its natural beauty, rainforests, birdlife, ancient trees, waterfalls, walking tracks, mountain views and exceptional biodiversity.

The Symposium will provide a valuable forum and networking opportunities for researchers, systematists, evolutionary biologists and ecologists with interests in the biology, ecology, physiology taxonomy, and evolution of gall forming arthropods. For the first time the program has been expanded to include leaf mining arthropods, due to their close affinities to their galling counterparts.

The scientific program will comprise invited keynote speakers, oral presentations and poster sessions (refer to respective pages for regular postings). The social program includes a Welcoming Reception at O’Reillys Rainforest Retreat and a mid-conference excursion to explore the unique flora and fauna of Lamington National Park and tour the renowned Canungra Wine Estate.

Topics:

  • Review of gall morphology
  • Taxonomy of world species
  • DNA based taxonomy
  • Rearing methods
  • Insect sample preparation for morphological study
  • Microscopy of mounted specimens of larvae, pupae and adults
