Digital Transformation in Materials Science: Data-Driven Approaches to Metal Matrix Composites

Dear Colleagues, 

This Special Issue, “Digital Transformation in Materials Science: Data-Driven Approaches to Metal Matrix Composites”, seeks to consolidate pioneering research that leverages digital technologies and data-centric methodologies to advance the understanding and optimization of metal matrix composites (MMCs) and other advanced materials. MMCs play a pivotal role in diverse industrial applications, from the aerospace to the automotive industry, owing to their superior mechanical properties and lightweight characteristics. However, the intricate microstructures and multifaceted properties of MMCs present significant challenges that necessitate the adoption of innovative digital strategies, including sophisticated data collection techniques, computational modeling, and machine learning algorithms.

We believe this Special Issue will resonate strongly with Data’s readership by promoting reproducibility and openness in MMC research, fostering collaboration between data scientists and materials researchers, and advancing the development of next-generation materials through data-driven innovations.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Data is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
