Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Corrosion of metal materials is a critical issue that affects the durability, safety, and performance of structures and components across various industries, including aerospace, automotive, marine, and construction. This Special Issue, titled "Corrosion and Protection of Metal Material Surface", aims to explore the latest advancements, challenges, and innovative solutions in understanding and mitigating corrosion phenomena. The issue will cover a wide range of topics, including the following:

  1. Mechanisms of Corrosion: What are some of the most recent research findings regarding the electrochemical mechanisms involved in corrosion? How might these be applied to improve corrosion resistance in practical applications?
  2. Advanced Protective Coatings: Can you share examples of innovative materials or technologies currently being developed for protective coatings? How do these compare to traditional coatings in terms of effectiveness and environmental impact?
  3. Surface Modification Techniques: What surface modification techniques have proven most effective in enhancing the corrosion resistance of metals? Are there any emerging processes that show promise in this area?
  4. Nanotechnology: How is nanotechnology being leveraged to create more effective anti-corrosion coatings? What are the advantages of using nanomaterials over traditional materials?
  5. Corrosion Monitoring: What advancements have been made in corrosion monitoring and detection methods? How can these technologies be integrated into industry practices to ensure ongoing safety and maintenance?
  6. Sustainable Strategies: What are some sustainable approaches being developed for corrosion prevention? How do they align with current trends in environmental responsibility?
  7. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: How can collaboration between different fields (like materials science, chemistry, and engineering) lead to innovative solutions for corrosion issues?

This Special Issue invites contributions from researchers and industry experts to share their insights on cutting-edge approaches to corrosion prevention and control. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, electrochemical corrosion processes, corrosion monitoring and detection methods, nanotechnology-based coatings, and sustainable anti-corrosion strategies. By bringing together diverse perspectives, this issue seeks to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and provide a comprehensive resource for advancing the field of corrosion science and engineering.

We look forward to receiving your contributions!

Manuscript Submission Information

Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Coatings is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.

Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
