This special issue belongs to the section “Architectural Design, Urban Science, and Real Estate“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
More examples of Special Issues of Buildings are available at: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/buildings/special_issues.
Around the world, progressive urbanization, population growth, inflation, and climate change are combining to make the sustainable development of resilient and inclusive cities a major priority in the 21st century. Consequently, this Special Issue, “Planning Resilient and Inclusive Cities: From Spatial Policy and Territorial Governance to Housing Policy”, aims to propose innovative strategies, technologies, and policies that empower cities to effectively respond to emerging climatic, demographic, and economic crises.
Interdisciplinary cooperation will be necessary to develop holistic solutions based on four pillars—leadership, society, economy, and environment–and public participation in the spatial planning process is key to formulating integrated approaches to urban development based on the principles of resilience, social inclusion, and sustainable development.
Of particular significance to these assumptions is the role of housing policy in counteracting spatial and social segregation, as well as increasing accessibility to public spaces and ensuring housing for various population groups.
Accordingly, this Special Issue is open for the following types of manuscripts covering the whole spectrum of sustainable development concerns and issues in urban and rural settings:
- Research articles;
- Conceptual articles;
- Review articles;
- Case studies;
- Commentaries.
