The Evolving Landscape of Systemic Vasculitides: From the Bench to Bedside
This special issue belongs to the section “Molecular and Translational Medicine“.
Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Systemic vasculitides encompass a diverse group of rare, immune-mediated diseases characterized by inflammation and necrosis of blood vessel walls, resulting in organ dysfunction and systemic manifestations. Despite major advances in classification and treatment, including the advent of biologic and targeted synthetic agents, many unmet needs remain in the areas of early diagnosis, disease activity assessment, long-term management, and understanding of pathogenic mechanisms.
This Special Issue aims to gather cutting-edge research and expert reviews that highlight recent progress and future directions in the field of systemic vasculitis. We welcome contributions spanning fundamental immunopathology, translational research, novel diagnostic biomarkers, imaging modalities, therapeutic innovations, and real-world data. Particular attention will be paid to the interplay between molecular discoveries and their clinical translation, as well as to multidisciplinary approaches bridging rheumatology, nephrology, dermatology, pulmonology, and pathology.
In this Special Issue, both original research articles and comprehensive reviews are welcome. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Pathogenesis and molecular mechanisms of systemic vasculitides;
- Advances in classification and disease phenotyping;
- Novel biomarkers, imaging, and omics technologies;
- Biologic and targeted therapies in vasculitis;
- Real-world evidence and registry-based studies;
- Pediatric vasculitides and rare phenotypes;
- Translational models bridging experimental and clinical research.
We warmly invite researchers and clinicians to contribute to this Special Issue, which aims to serve as a platform for sharing multidisciplinary perspectives and promoting innovation in systemic vasculitis research and care.

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Biomedicines is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2600 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
