Special Issue Information

Dear Colleagues,

Exosomes are extracellular vesicles of endocytic origin, about 30 to 150 nanometres in size, released by different cells into bodily fluids. These particles carry specific proteins, lipids, RNA, and DNA, acting as little messengers to share information with other cells. Recent studies have shown that exosomes play a role in how cells communicate with each other, affecting various disorders like cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and inflammatory conditions. Because of their unique features, exosomes show promise as markers for diagnosing and predicting diseases with less invasive procedures. Scientists have developed many methods over the last 10 years to study disease-specific exosomes, using both optical and nano-optical tools. This Special Issue focuses on the potential uses of exosome profiling in medical diagnosis and delivering treatments to disease cells. It also includes papers discussing the latest methods for collecting, cleaning, and understanding exosomes from bodily fluids and cells grown in labs.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. Bioengineering is an international peer-reviewed open access monthly journal published by MDPI.
