Human Factors in Automated Driving and Intelligent Transportation System

Dear Colleagues,

Human factors are important to address in the field of intelligent transportation systems (ITSs), especially for automated driving (AD).

As technology advances, the interaction between humans and automated systems becomes increasingly complex, necessitating a deeper understanding of how drivers interact with, adapt to, and perceive these technologies. This Special Issue seeks to explore these dynamics, focusing on aspects such as driver behavior, trust and acceptance of automated systems, cognitive load, ergonomics, and the impact of AD on traffic safety and efficiency. By delving into these topics, we aim to bridge the gap between technological capabilities and human needs, ensuring that automated driving systems are both effective and user-friendly.

This Special Issue encourages authors from academia and industry to submit new research results about technological innovations and novel ideas in the context of human factors in automated driving and intelligent transportation systems.

Manuscript Submission Information

Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 250 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for assessment.

Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process.
