Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
Due to the disorderly consumption of non-renewable materials in manufactured goods and the acceleration of global climate change, there is an urgent need for more sustainable solutions. Based on lignocellulosic bioresources, wood products have emerged as greener alternatives for diversified applications in household and decoration objects, furniture, construction, building parts, musical instruments, sports equipments, toys, and others.
Dr. Victor De Araujo, a top scientist in the field of wood and engineered wood products and professor of wood construction in a postgraduate program in civil engineering, invites scientists and researchers to submit their research on wood and wood products, highlighting advances in wood science, wood engineering, and wood industry. Laboratory studies, case studies, sectoral surveys, populational studies, design science research studies, and systematic literature reviews are welcome. This Special Issue aims to address frontier scientific challenges, focusing on developing innovative technologies for wood industry and designing greener solutions in wood product categories, focus on there applications.
Relevant topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
- Topics directly related to timber engineering and bioresource engineering;
- Wood characterizations (species, properties, performances, applications, etc.);
- Wood artisanal processing, machining, modification, preservation and reuse;
- Wood industrial processing, machining, modification, preservation and reuse;
- Design, development and production of innovative wood products;
- Design, development and production of new technologies for wood industry;
- Wood product analyses (sectoral survey, case study, review, DSR, etc.);
- Wood industry analyses (sectoral survey, case study, review, DSR, etc.);

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
