Special Issue Information
Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the launch of this Special Issue, entitled “Multifunctional Applications of Nanoparticle Catalysts in Environmental Catalysis and Energy Conversion”. This issue is dedicated to the advancement of nanoparticle catalysts, which are pivotal in the realms of environmental and energy catalysis, material science, biocatalytic systems, and sustainability. It aligns with the urgent global need for innovative solutions that address environmental challenges and enhance energy efficiency.
- Characterization of Catalyst Properties: A comprehensive identification of the properties of these catalysts, such as their morphology, size, and electronic structure, is crucial. This Special Issue encourages contributions that shed light on the relationship between these properties and the catalysts' functionality.
- Structural–Performance Correlations: We seek to gain a deeper insight into how the structural design of functional materials correlates with their catalytic performance in different systems, including photo-, electro-, and biocatalytic processes. This understanding is vital for optimizing catalysts for specific applications.
- Applications in Sustainable Catalysis: A key goal is to develop applications for functional catalysts in sustainable environmental catalysis, such as the removal and adsorption of pollutants, and in clean energy catalysis, including the enhancement of fuel cell technologies. These applications are critical for mitigating environmental impacts and advancing renewable energy solutions.
- Broader Reach of Nanomaterials: This Special Issue is not limited to catalysts alone. We also welcome submissions on other relevant nanomaterials and their applications, particularly those that contribute to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
We invite researchers, scientists, and engineers to contribute their groundbreaking work to this Special Issue. Together, we can drive forward the development of nanoparticle catalysts that have the potential to transform how we approach environmental challenges and energy generation.
Please join us in this collaborative effort to explore the multifunctional applications of nanoparticle catalysts and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Sincerely,
Dr. Libin Zeng

Manuscript Submission Information
Manuscripts should be submitted online at www.mdpi.com by registering and logging in to this website. Once you are registered, click here to go to the submission form. Manuscripts can be submitted until the deadline. All submissions that pass pre-check are peer-reviewed. Accepted papers will be published continuously in the journal (as soon as accepted) and will be listed together on the special issue website. Research articles, review articles as well as short communications are invited. For planned papers, a title and short abstract (about 100 words) can be sent to the Editorial Office for announcement on this website.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. A guide for authors and other relevant information for submission of manuscripts is available on the Instructions for Authors page. Applied Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
Please visit the Instructions for Authors page before submitting a manuscript. The Article Processing Charge (APC) for publication in this open access journal is 2400 CHF (Swiss Francs). Submitted papers should be well formatted and use good English. Authors may use MDPI's English editing service prior to publication or during author revisions.
