Cover Story: Using four-wave data from 782 Swedish adolescents, in this study, we investigated the processes between parental knowledge of adolescent whereabouts and adolescent alcohol inebriation over the course of four years. In addition, we also explored to what extent parental knowledge and adolescent inebriation had an effect on parent–child relationships over time. Our findings indicate that increased parental knowledge predicted reduced adolescent alcohol inebriation and fostered a positive parent–child relationship over time. These results underscore the importance of enhancing parental awareness of adolescent whereabouts to mitigate alcohol inebriation in adolescents and strengthen parent–child bonds. View this paper
