Similarity of Heterogeneous Kinetics to Delay of Double-Layer Capacitance Using Chronoamperometry
Round 1
Reviewer 1 Report
The manuscript by Y. Liu et al studies new heterogeneous kinetics. The main claim of the authors is the amount of depression of the current from the Cottrell current being proportional to the power of the time, corresponds to the negatively capacitive current brought about by the redox reaction in the physical meaning. The paper can be published after addressing the specific comments listed below:
Pg 3, ln 27, authors may wish to elaborate on how the electrode-electrolyte interface would thermally fluctuate and what range of thermal fluctuation would lead to such behavior.
Pg 4, ln 160, 182 authors may wish to expand on how they choose 0.1 for Lambda and 0 for u is there a physical significance?
Pg 4, ln 175, authors should indicate what each variable refers to in Eqn 2 for example what is c* and what is F?
Fig. 3 authors may wish to expand on how they choose 0.7 x 10-5 cm2/s for the diffusion coefficient, and other values such as C1s, Crx, please add an appropriate reference or indicate how it was obtained.
Fig. 4 It’s not clear what is the significance of this convex plot at Edc - E0 < 0.10V and might have to rephrase Pg 5, ln 211-215 accordingly. Also, can Fig. 4 be moved up before the experimental section for better continuity of the story
Pg 5, ln 221, the authors should comment on how does their work correspond to a planar electrode and how does diffusion affect different electrode geometry?
Fig 5 LSV shown in the inset why the peak current is only 2uA whereas the Cottrell plot shows a current of almost 30-40uA authors may wish to expand on this observation
Pg 7, ln309, authors should correct the unit for CrxFig. 2 ln 153, authors should correct the typo wok à “work

Reviewer 3 Report
This is a very well researched and thorough paper that not only explains the results, but also why the results are as they are. This will be a useful resource for others in the field.
I am not convinced of the linearity of some of the figures - fig 6 but especially fig 9. If this can be addressed, I think the findings will be of wider benefit
