1. Error in Table
In the original publication [1], there were some mistakes in Table 1. We modified the caption for Table 1 and have changed the column header from sweetener to mono- and disaccharides, in order to fit the description. The type of treatments for sucrose has been updated to extracted and purified through a series of physical and chemical operations. The type of treatments for galactose has been updated to hydrolysis of lactose or microbial fermentation. Additions have been made for the missing values for fructose GI, 23, and the range of potency 1.17–1.75. We corrected the spelling of “tagatose” in Table 1. The molecular formula for isomaltose in Table 1 has been updated. The corrected Table 1 appears below.

There was a mistake in Table 2. We modified the caption in order to add the Lugduname sweetener and its potency. The corrected Table 2 appears below. With this correction, the order of some references has been adjusted accordingly.

There was a mistake in Table 3. Caramel should not be listed in Table 3, as it is a coloring agent and not a sweetener. The IUPAC name for inverted sugar has been updated to (2R,3S,4R,5R)-2,3,4,5,6-pentahydroxyhexanal, and (3S,4R,5S)-1,3,4,5,6-pentahydroxyhexan-2-one. The IUPAC name for maltodextrin has been updated to (2R,3S,4R,5R)-2,3,4,5,6-pentahydroxyhexanal. The IUPAC name for xylitol has been updated to (2R,3R,4S)-pentane-1,2,3,4,5-pentol. With this correction, the original citation of reference [117] in Table 3 has been deleted. The order of some references has been adjusted accordingly. The corrected Table 3 appears below. With this correction, the order of some references has been adjusted accordingly.

There was a mistake in Table 4. We corrected the molasses term. The corrected Table 4 appears below.

2. Text Correction
A correction has been made to the abstract, 220,0000 should be 220,000.
A correction has been made to Section 2, Section 2.6. The third-to-last sentence in Section 2.6 has been deleted.
A correction has been made to Section 4. We adjusted the final proposition of the first paragraph of the 4th section in order to clarify and introduce Section 4 information. The corrected sentence should read: “Table 4 presents several sweetening substances of plant origin with high sweetening power. However, there are plants that have sweetening potential without being classified as carbohydrates and without having significant caloric value, and are described in the following subsections.”.
A correction has been made to the caption of Figure 1. We added content in order to clarify the inspiration for Figure 1. The updated caption of Figure 1 is “Figure 1. Human mechanism of sweet taste perception, developed and adapted after [206,207].”.
A correction has been made to Section 7, Section 7.5, paragraph 1. The mention of Utetheisa Kong white has been removed from sentence 7. The original citations of references [251,252] have been deleted. With this correction, the order of some references has been adjusted accordingly. The corrected sentences should read: “Pollinators such as honeybees (Apis mellifera) and bumblebees (Bombus spp.) may experience altered foraging behavior, reduced learning and memory, or disruptions in gut microbiota when exposed to NNS-contaminated nectar [249], potentially affecting colony growth and pollination services. Other floral-visiting insects, including butterflies, moths, and hoverflies, may have reduced feeding efficiency or altered visitation patterns, while sugar-feeding ants could show changes in food preference and colony development [249]. Emerging effects arise primarily through interference with chemosensory perception, energy metabolism, and gut microbiota composition [249], which in turn can cascade to broader ecosystem impacts, including diminished pollination and altered plant-insect interactions.”
The authors state that the scientific conclusions are unaffected. This correction was approved by the Academic Editor. The original publication has also been updated.
Correction Statement
Following publication of this correction notice, an update to the description of changes for Section 7.5 of the original publication has been made. This information has been updated and this change does not affect the scientific content of the article.
