Cover Story: H2S is a toxic impurity gas that occurs in various industrial products. It is harmful to both humans and the environment. Nowadays, more and more industrial processes prefer H2S levels below 1 ppm. Therefore, H2S removal, especially trace H2S removal from industrial gases is of vital importance. Zeolite is widely used in H2S adsorption as it has a large specific surface area and unique structure. This paper reviews the current status and issues of zeolite-based adsorbents used to remove H2S from industrial gases. Particular attention is paid to the adsorption mechanism and the measures regarding how to enhance the adsorption performance. In addition, the studies of hydrogen sulfide removal by molecular simulation are also reviewed here. Based on these studies, we attempt to shed light on new perspectives for further research.
