Cover Story: Although rare diseases are individually uncommon, they collectively impact millions worldwide, often posing significant challenges in daily life and employment. This article, “The Uneven Effect of Rare Diseases on Functional Status and Work Capacity”, explores how these conditions affect patients' abilities to carry out routine tasks and sustain employment. Through an analysis of various rare diseases, the study uncovers disparities in functional impairment and work capacity. It underscores the urgent need for tailored treatment plans that address both medical and social factors. With deeper insight, a multidisciplinary team can develop a robust support system for those affected. This approach not only enhances patient well-being, but also rekindles their motivation for learning and social engagement, shedding light on the transformative power of personalized care.
