Cover Story: Sexual pleasure is a crucial human right, fundamental to people’s well-being and a key aspect in clinical contexts. This cross-sectional online exploratory qualitative study aimed to expand the understanding of sexual pleasure by examining how 85 LGB+ people (lesbian, gay, bisexual and other minority sexual orientations) with a sexual problem define solitary and partnered sexual pleasure. Summative content analysis was performed. This study reveals a broader range of problems than those proposed as sexual dysfunctions in diagnosis manuals. Nevertheless, the descriptions of sexual pleasure indicated that it may be punctuated by guilt, shame and openness to the experience, and consent has a fundamental role in framing sexual pleasure.
