Cover Story: Aviation is key to global interconnectivity. To maintain its benefits while reducing emissions, future aircraft will require radical redesigns and novel technologies. Hydrogen aircraft offer a promising path to emissions reduction, with entry into service targeted for 2035. Achieving this goal demands rapid certification despite immature designs and unestablished processes. Accelerating progress requires early regulatory analysis and definition of technology and operational options. The CONCERTO project addressed this by analysing and weighting these elements, resulting in a Generic Concept at CRL1. This paper outline major system changes, integration challenges, and operational shifts needed to enable this concept’s flight. View this paper
