The journal retracts the article “Modified Epoxy with Chitosan Triazine Dihydrazide Derivatives for Mechanical and Corrosion Protection of Steel” [1] cited above.
Following publication, concerns were brought to the attention of the publisher regarding the integrity of multiple images presented in this publication [1].
Adhering to our standard procedure, an investigation was conducted by the Editorial Office and Editorial Board that established the presence of inappropriate image modifications within Figure 5 [1], as well as an overlap between Figure 6d in [1] and Figure 8a in [2], and between Figure 8 in [1] and Figure 9 in [3], presenting different experimental conditions. While the authors cooperated with the Editorial Office during the investigation, they were unable to satisfactorily explain the irregularities present in this image nor provide complete supporting material for Editorial Board evaluation. As a result, the Editorial Board has lost confidence in the reliability of the findings and has decided to retract this publication [1], as per MDPI’s retraction policy: https://www.mdpi.com/ethics#_bookmark30 (accessed on 30 December 2025).
This retraction was approved by the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Coatings.
The authors did not provide a comment on this decision.
