Membranes, Volume 14, Issue 10

October 2024 - 20 articles

Cover Story: The remediation of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) has gained significant attention recently due to their widespread use in industries such as firefighting foam production and their persistent, recalcitrant nature. This review explores the photocatalytic degradation and removal of PFAS using photocatalysis and membrane separation, respectively, and the hybrid application of these methods to create photocatalytic membrane reactors. Advancements in photocatalysis, membrane separation and photocatalytic membrane reactors with suspended and immobilized photocatalyst configurations are discussed, as well as the influence of operational parameters, challenges, and recommendations for real-world applications. View this paper
