Cover Story: This study examines how human abilities and robot capabilities jointly shape team performance in construction-site human–robot collaboration (HRC). Based on PLS-SEM, the analysis shows that operational skill, decision-making, and learning ability on the human side, together with robot functionality and operability, significantly and interactively influence team performance across productivity, safety, quality, flexibility, and creativity. Task complexity moderates the effects of interaction between human abilities and robot capacities on team performance, demonstrating the need to match human abilities with appropriate robotic functionality for on-site conditions. The results provide an evidence base for designing HRC teams and guiding improvement strategies in HRC practice. View this paper
